How to find duplicate photos

  1. Add several photos.
  2. Select Find duplicates.
  3. Review the grouped results — each group contains visually similar images.

How this works

Your browser computes a perceptual fingerprint (an average hash) for each photo by downscaling it to a tiny grid and comparing each pixel to the grid's average brightness, then groups photos whose fingerprints are nearly identical — no ML model or upload is involved, and photos with only minor resizing or recompression are still caught.

Common use cases

  • Find and review duplicate photos before organizing a photo library
  • Spot near-duplicate burst-mode shots to keep just the best one
  • Check a batch of downloaded images for accidental duplicates

Frequently asked questions

Is this duplicate photo finder free?

Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no limits.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is analyzed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Inqita or stored.

Does this only find exact duplicates?

No — it finds visually similar images too (e.g. the same photo resized, slightly recompressed, or a near-identical burst-mode shot), not just byte-for-byte identical files.

Does this delete anything automatically?

No. It only shows you the groups of similar photos — you decide what to keep or remove yourself.
