How to convert an EPUB
- Add an .epub file.
- Preview the extracted chapters.
- Download as PDF or plain text.
How this works
An EPUB file is a ZIP archive of XHTML chapters plus a manifest describing reading order — your browser unpacks it, extracts each chapter's text in the correct order, and lets you export the result as a simple PDF or plain text file. No file is uploaded, and no server-side processing is involved.
A note on scope
This converts text content only — embedded images, custom fonts, and complex page layouts from the original EPUB are not preserved. For simple, text-focused ebooks this works well; heavily illustrated or laid-out EPUBs will lose their original visual design.
Common use cases
- Convert an EPUB ebook to PDF for a device that doesn't support EPUB
- Extract an EPUB's plain text for reading elsewhere
- Preview an EPUB's chapters without a dedicated ebook reader app
Frequently asked questions
Is this EPUB converter free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no limits.
Is my EPUB uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Inqita or stored.
Does this preserve images and formatting?
No — this is a text-focused converter. Embedded images and complex layout/styling from the original EPUB aren't carried over to the PDF or text output.
Can I read the EPUB directly on this page?
Yes — the extracted chapters are shown in a scrollable preview before you download anything.
