Start with a suitable portrait
Use a JPG, PNG, or WebP photograph containing a clearly visible person. Separation is easiest when the subject contrasts with the background and hair, hands, and clothing are not heavily blurred. The current model is not designed as a general product, furniture, vehicle, or logo cutout service.
What happens on the device
The Background Remover downloads its segmentation model and analyzes the image in browser memory. The first run can be slower while those model files load. The selected photo is not posted to an Inqita conversion endpoint, and the result is created as a PNG because PNG supports transparency.
Inspect difficult edges
Zoom into hair, glasses, fingers, and areas where clothing resembles the background. Automated segmentation estimates which pixels belong to the person, so fine strands and low-contrast boundaries may be imperfect. Try a clearer source photograph when the edge cannot be used reliably rather than hiding the limitation with excessive smoothing.
Prepare the final asset
Use Crop Image to remove unnecessary transparent space and Image Resizer to match the destination dimensions. Preview transparency on both light and dark backgrounds. Keep the original portrait and confirm that you have permission to use the person's image.
