How to convert PDF to Excel

  1. Add a PDF file.
  2. Select Convert to Excel.
  3. Download the .xlsx file.

How this works

Your browser extracts each page's text with its position, groups it into rows, and splits each row into columns wherever there's a gap wider than normal word-spacing — a heuristic reconstruction, since PDF has no real table markup — then writes a real .xlsx file.

A note on scope

This works best on PDFs with clearly-spaced tabular data. Complex tables with merged cells, wrapped multi-line cells, or inconsistent spacing may not split into columns perfectly and could need manual cleanup.

Common use cases

  • Turn a simple, clearly spaced PDF table into an editable spreadsheet
  • Extract tabular text from a PDF into Excel for analysis
  • Get a rough spreadsheet from a PDF instead of retyping data

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF to Excel converter free?

Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no limits.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Inqita or stored.

Will the table structure be perfect?

Not guaranteed — columns are detected heuristically from spacing, since PDF doesn't store real table structure. Clean, simple tables convert well; complex or merged-cell tables may need adjustment.

Does this work on scanned PDFs?

No — scanned/image-only PDFs have no extractable text.
