How to rotate a video
- Choose a video file.
- Pick 90°, 180°, or 270°.
- Select Rotate video.
- Preview and download the result.
How this works
Your browser plays the video while drawing every frame onto a rotated canvas, then records that canvas — combined with the original audio — into a new WebM file using your browser's own recording engine. No video is uploaded, and no server-side conversion is involved.
A note on scope
Because recording happens in real time, rotating takes roughly as long as the video's own length. The output is a WebM file, which plays natively in all current browsers and most modern media players and apps.
Common use cases
- Fix a video recorded sideways on a phone
- Rotate a video before uploading it somewhere that ignores rotation metadata
- Flip an upside-down clip the right way up
Frequently asked questions
Is this video rotator free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no watermark.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is rotated entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Inqita or stored.
Why is my video sideways in the first place?
Some phones and cameras record video with a rotation flag in the file's metadata instead of rotating the actual pixels — many apps and players ignore that flag, showing the video sideways. This tool rotates the actual picture, so it displays correctly everywhere.
What format is the rotated video?
WebM, a widely supported video format that plays in all current browsers and most media players and apps.
Can I rotate by a custom angle, like 45°?
No, only the standard 90°, 180°, and 270° rotations are supported, which cover fixing sideways and upside-down video.
