How to trim a video
- Choose a video file.
- Set the start and end time in seconds.
- Select Trim video.
- Preview and download the trimmed clip.
How this works
Your browser plays the clip between your chosen start and end times while drawing every frame to a canvas in real time, and records that canvas — combined with the original audio — into a new WebM video file using your browser's own recording engine. No video is uploaded, and no server-side conversion is involved.
A note on scope
Because recording happens in real time, trimming takes roughly as long as the clip's own length (a 30-second trim takes about 30 seconds). The output is a WebM file, which plays natively in all current browsers and most modern media players and apps. Clips are limited to 2 minutes to keep processing time and file size reasonable.
Common use cases
- Cut a single clip out of a longer video
- Trim dead space from the start or end of a recording
- Shorten a video before sharing it
Frequently asked questions
Is this video cutter free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no watermark.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is trimmed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Inqita or stored.
Why does trimming take as long as the clip itself?
The trim is recorded in real time using your browser's own video recording engine, so a 20-second clip takes about 20 seconds to process — there's no way to encode it instantly using only browser-native tools.
What format is the trimmed video?
WebM, a widely supported video format that plays in all current browsers and most media players and apps.
Is there a length limit?
Yes, clips are limited to 2 minutes to keep processing time and file size reasonable.
