How to split a video

  1. Choose a video file.
  2. Enter how many equal parts you want.
  3. Select Split video.
  4. Download the ZIP containing every part.

How this works

Your browser plays and records each equal-length part of the video in turn using its own recording engine, then packages every part into a single ZIP file using a hand-built ZIP writer — the same one this platform's other multi-file downloads use. No video is uploaded, and no server-side conversion is involved.

A note on scope

Because each part is recorded in real time, splitting takes roughly as long as the full video's length. Each part is a WebM file, which plays natively in all current browsers and most modern media players and apps.

Common use cases

  • Split a long recording into shorter, more manageable clips
  • Divide a video into equal parts for a multi-part upload
  • Break up a large file into smaller pieces

Frequently asked questions

Is this video splitter free?

Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no watermark.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is split entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Inqita or stored.

How many parts can I split into?

Between 2 and 10 equal parts.

What do I get as output?

A single ZIP file containing one WebM video file per part.

Are the parts exactly equal in length?

Yes, except the very last part, which also includes any small remainder if the video's length doesn't divide evenly.
